Review of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) by Jason C — 17 Dec 2014

VERY disappointing. It felt slapped together. Too many plot holes, too many rushed scenes, too many sloppy plot devices.

Who was the bad guy? We don't see his back story and barely get any elaboration on why he is doing what he is doing. He is TOO simple because they crammed too much stuff into one movie. And how the heck did he get control of an alpha?! And why do the Alphas not look a thing like dragons?! How did Stoic survive that Viking meeting? Why did Hiccups mom not even try to visit at least her son in 20 years? Why did Toothless so Super Saiyan?

I like the mom and her scenes, but if she was left out of the film...the film would have been better. Because then we could have learned more about the bad guy. Instead, he just kind of shows up and we're expected to believe what we are told instead of being shown why he is the bad guy.
