Review of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) by Ben D — 21 Mar 2015

I was expecting this movie to suck. Animated sequels typically do. I was surprised to find out, however, that it was just as good as its predecessor. It's not a brilliant, 10/10 masterpiece, but its still a really good film.

It takes everything that worked from the first movie and wither included it, or made it better. The action scenes is this one are much better I feel. They looked cooler and generally felt more awesome.

The flying scenes are still here and they still look really freaking sweet. I missed this one in theaters too and I can tell you right now, I won't be missing the 3rd one when it inevitably come out.

The humorous side characters are handled the same way as before, so they don't get annoying, which is great. This film I think was a little more emotional that the last, which I always welcome. I won't spoil why, but just know that is more emotional.

Overall a really good movie. I can't say if it's better or worse than the first, but regardless, you should watch this movie.
