How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a great sequel. There is more emotional depth, with some very touching moments. The animation is beautiful, a couple of shots appearing to be like a live action film. The characters are all great, with some memorable new additions to the cast.

The dialogue is well written, with moments that will appeal to kids and adults. The action was exciting, and the movie maintains a near perfect pace. The film's villain is a bit clichéd, but he's given enough backstory for the audience to understand his motivation.

There are some characters that kind of fade into the background, but most of them shine. This is a great animated sequel that improves on its predecessor, even t can be predictable. How to Train Your Dragon 2 gets 4/5 stars (B+).
