Review of How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) by Maeve L — 23 Nov 2007
This is one of my favorite movies by far. It takes place in sleek, sophisticated, new york city, but retains the elegance of a place liek paris. Monroe, Grable, and Bacall together show an amazing quality that women had abotu 50 years ago that has disappeared recently.
This movie tells the the story of 3 famous socialites living together in the posh upper east side whos each main goal is to get hitched to a millionaire. They make there way to amazing parties all over the city, just trying to find a man suitable for themselves.
Monroe plays a hilarious gotta-love-her dumb blonde who actually isnt so dumb! Bacall plays the mother of the bunch who by far is the most experienced with *dealing with these sorts of things* and Grable plays a funny and lovable gal who will do anything to fall in love with a millionaire.
This movie shows love and believe it or not hard work to finding the love of your life while still remaining rich and happy. This movie is fantastic and great for anyone who can appreciate such amazing acting.
