Review of How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008) by Murder C — 27 Mar 2010
There's not a great deal of originality on show here, but there is a shed load of charm and some pretty funny moments that make up for this.
Following Pegg's fish out of water Journo in NYC is always entertaining and this is down to his stellar work. He makes Sydney likeable inspite of his irritable personality. His scenes with Jeff Bridges in particular are just a blast. Dunst also puts in some nice work, she is very likeable and watching her irritation with Sydney change to respect doesn't feel forced.
Whilst there are numerous pot shots taken at the media which are funny, they are pretty obvious and don't really add much. It is however Pegg's show and he keeps things on track with real ease.
