Since I was a fan of the book in my childhood I decided i'd wake up early and watch this on HBO. what could have been an enjoyable movie was poorly executed and poorly paced enough to make this movie a chore to watch all the way through.

i'll admit that if I was still 6 or 7 I might still find this amusing, but not in a permanent sort of way. a children's film can still have the power to move the viewer if it's done correctly, but this movie seemed lazy and thrown together.

it honestly felt like a tv movie. I guess it would be suitable renting material if you have little kids.
