Review of How to Deal (2003) by Jon W — 12 May 2008
I dunno, I liked this film. I mean, I remember seeing it in theatres back in the day and thinking that it was pretty funny. After seeing it again, I'm convinced that it's still a pretty funny film.
And Mandy Moore looks good, even with short hair. I'm thinking my review is biased because I like Mandy Moore; she's got this wholesome feel about her when she's given a role of the slightly weird, but not too out-there girl (who of course would fall for this douchebag boy who probably cruises through life on a smile and his charm).
I don't know; Macon doesn't seem to have very many redeeming qualities so I can't really imagine why he's even in the film at all, unless he's there just for the sake of being the "guy who teaches Halley about love".
Really now, they could've done better. And really, I have a hard time seeing past that. Although it might be a surprisingly accurate representation of real life society, in which case we're a lost cause.
This film's alright though.
