Review of How the West Was Won (1962) by Magnus W — 02 Jan 2009
Very impressive how the Cinerama process even on normal widescreen (2.40:1) gives the extra depth. It is very impressive in the locations they have found. The problem to certain degree is the story line that tries to keep a narrative to follow and still provide some overview of the West. It works decently but sometimes becomes overly patriotic or cliche to be real top scorer. At least they have managed to keep a good pace through the movie and I didn't feel bored at any point.
It is an all star cast that delivers what one can expect but not that list little bit. It might be the format that screwed them up.
Worth seeing!
