Ron Howard's vision for Seuss's story is a hot mess. Sure, Carrey is inspired casting, the design and makeup are neat, and it has some funny moments (mostly with Grinch in his home). Unfortunately there is WAY more wrong: a really confused backstory, a dark overcast environment, a lack of identity (is this a musical or not?!).
Steer clear of this one and watch the classic cartoon instead.
