Review of How She Move (2008) by Andre H — 22 Jun 2008
I'm tired of jaded people writing jaded reviews. Yes, this is your usual dance movie, and yes the ending was predictable. But if you could for just one moment of your life, allow yourself to be moved, those things won't matter.
The fact that it's Canadian, and so well done is one great factor, but another is that though some might have felt the serious of the film dampened the mood, I feel it did just the opposite. The realism, the darkness, the edginess helped to not only heighten the mood, but your experience with the characters as well.
There were no ground breaking performances, but everyone was equally believable, and the stepping was phenominal. This movie, above many others, shows what real, straight-from-the-gut passion is all about.
Tracey Armstrong moved me, and this movie moved me. Go and be moved.
