Review of How I Live Now (2013) by Patrick K — 07 Oct 2013
This is a much better film that I anticipated it to be. The trailer made it seem interesting but reading up about it and 'teen angst' been used to describe this made me cringe. The film is pretty much about an American teenager who is sent to England to stay with her cousins in the countryside when the family is split up during an evacuation and Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) tries to find her way back.
There is a romance which is nice and not overdone to the point of wishing one would die in the film. Kevin MacDonald did a good job with this film with the hills and picturesque nature of the English countryside and converted a good post apocalyptic tale with great skill.
