Review of How I Live Now (2013) by Leon B — 16 Feb 2014
Review:
It took me some time to watch the whole of this movie because I kept on falling asleep as it was pretty boring. It seemed like it was in 2 parts, with the first part being about her coming staying with her cousins and then it just seemed to go all over the place. I lost interest after a while , even though the director tried to make it interesting by introducing explosions and the voices in the leading characters head, which was pretty annoying. Personally, I couldn't see the point that the director was trying to get across because there wasn't any real explanation about what the hell was going on. All you see is soldiers ordering people about, but you don't know why they were treating the people the way that they were. Anyway, I didn't really enjoy it. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
This is yet another movie that had been pretty rubbish from Saoirse Ronan. From the appalling, The Host and the strange Byzantium, I am slowly beginning to unlike her effortless acting style and her dead face expressions. The little girl in the movie seemed stand out from the rest and the whole love story seemed a bit quick and strange. I don't know how she fell so deeply in love after just a few days with the family. Anyway, it's not the type of movie that I will be watching again in a hurry.
Budget: N/A.
Worldwide Gross: $60,000 (Terrible!).
I recommend this movie to people who are into there movies about a girl who visits her cousins from America and ends up in the middle of a crisis. 2/10.
