Review of How Green Was My Valley (1941) by Fabian K — 28 Oct 2008
I liked this movie, mainly because I was so provoced by the father in the family. I think he's meant to be a good figure in the movie, but he's clearly a patriarch with fascistoid tendencies in my eyes.
The main character, the youngest son, is probably too young to understand how terrible he is, while the older sons abandon the father, some go to australia, some to USA etc. Out of the 20 or so movies I saw when I was ill, this is one of the ones I remember best.
