Normally I roll my eyes when I hear the genre term "horror-comedy"...although I love films like Evil Dead 2 and Return of the Living Dead, no horror-comedy as of yet has made me genuinely cringe with fear while providing gut-busting laughs in a single film.
.. some of them reach the level of gory and funny, but not scary. Housebound managed to creep me out AND make me laugh. Dread lurks around every corner of this often claustrophobic New Zealand tale, while gallows humor makes it enjoyable and lovable.
