Review of Housebound (2000) by Nathan M — 03 Mar 2015
Australian horror films are killing it in 2014. Housebound is a film that balances humor and genuine scares to create a pretty fantastic cinematic experience. With some great characters, beautiful and haunting set design, and a strong script, Housebound is able to tell a haunted house story in a way that's both horrifying and hilarious.
Director Gerard Johnstone does a fantastic job of handling his cast, the visuals, and balancing the two tones of the film. It can jump from a joke to a scare without ever feeling jarring in a bad way.
I would love to see more horror films like this.
