Review of Houseboat (1958) by Teemu L — 15 Mar 2010
Very funny physical humor and use of disaster. A widower with three kids is in way over his head. His son runs away the same night that Chincia (Loren) runs away from her controlling father. They become friends and the three children hire her to be their maid/ nanny.
The problem is Chincia doesn't know how to do anything practical. The community rejects Chincia because she is foreign, even though she is fabulously gorgeous, cultured, and wealthy. I love how she threw a drink in a guy's face.
A series of accidents throws Loren and Grant together. When they fall in love, the children are initially very upset because they loved her first. In the end, they become a family.
