Review of House on Haunted Hill (1999) by Paynen D — 09 May 2008
I normally dislike remakes of classic horror, but this did a reasonable job. While both involve the double-twist murder set-up plot masquerading as a haunted house story, the original stops there, while this one morphs into an actual haunted house story.
I was hoping it would stay true to the classic, and it did indeed acknowledge its roots, but in the end I was disappointed by yet another intrusion of useless CGI into a modern horror film.
