Review of House of Wax (2005) by Fiona C — 02 Jun 2011
This is an amazing horror film! Despite some bad ratings, my view didn't change. When I rented it for the first time, I watched it 4 times and was disappointed when it had to go back. Didn't expect much to begin with but as the movie when on, I discovered I was really involved in what was going on and was glued to my seat ( bed, really comfy mound of blankets, pillows and food).
The characters are genuine- some are sensible and cautious while others are more confident and risky. The road trip, camping site and ghost town were awesome places for the set. My favorite scenes were when the friends ( Carly, her brother Nick,Page,Dalton, boyfriend Wade and Blake) met up, separated due to a purposeful car incident, scene where Bo ( him and his brother Vincent were cool even though they were meant to be the bad ones) chases Carly, the fights and the big conclusion at the end.
At a scary bit in the wax workshop I considered turning it off as I was a bit unsure, but then decided, "hey, why? Its good." and stayed. Glad I did. This is the best film I have ever seen and have ordered my own copy online to watch again and again.
Loved it.
