Review of House of Wax (2005) by Nathan C — 29 Oct 2011
Despite some cool elements, this ended up being kind of a letdown. Not just the film, but Paris' death. I was half-expecting her to be made more lifelike with the wax. The visual aspect and atmosphere was incredible, as well as the retro direction they were taking it.
A decent backstory, a tense and ingenious finale, and a rather cunning villain are assets. However, this cast was just garbage churned out from the CW (WB, UPN, whatever), and the movie started to fall apart from there.
If they tried being more inventive rather than apply the "teens die" formula, then this would've been a better film. Decent diversion, but lacking something.
