Review of House of the Dead 2 (2006) by Patrick B — 03 Nov 2007
The original HotD is on my top 10 worst films of all time list, mainly because Uwe Boll took a cool idea for a trashy horror movie and turned it into trash. This sequel, which was written by the same people but directed by newcomer Michael Hurst improves on it in most respects, but it's still a piece of crap.
The search for zombie zero has come to an end, it's been located in a college lab run by the crazed Dr. Curien (the person responsible for the zombies in the games, played here with drunken ineptitude by the usually entertaining Sid Haig), and a group of elite soldiers (led by the new Blade.
.. Sticky Fingaz) are sent in to destroy it. They end up having to deal with the entire student body turned zombies. Writer Mark A. Altman (whom I despise for a number of reasons) claims he wanted this flick to be "Starship Troopers with zombies" and he failed miserably.
It's dumb, with retarded characters (one soldier keeps wanting to take pictures of himself with naked chick zombies) and lame action scenes ripped right out of better movies (mainly Resident Evil).
It's a polished turd.
