Review of House of Sand and Fog (2003) by Jonathan A — 10 Oct 2008
Recovering alcoholic loses her house to an Iranian family and struggles to get it back, with dire consequences. Wonderfully tragic, in every sense of the word. The acting from the leads is incredible and never once feels like forced melodrama.
James Horner's music is wonderfully calm and melancholy. Although the film draws out the plight of its victims, you feel for everyone, since ultimately, there is no distinction between who is to blame for the final outcome.
