Review of House of Sand and Fog (2003) by Amanda H — 09 Nov 2011

I had to spend some time debating what I wanted to rate this movie, because it is definitely not an enjoyable or even particularly entertaining film. Also, I've never been able to get the image of a teenage Jennifer Connelly whining her way through Labyrinth out of my head, no matter how much older she gets and no matter how many movies I see her in.

My opinion of her has not changed much after seeing this film, but overall, this is a movie that makes you think. Certainly not about happy things, but the whole thing is so well-made that I can get past the fact that I kind of wanted to slit my wrists by the time it was over.
