Review of House of Fools (2002) by Dani ( — 12 Jan 2004
House of Fools may remind some of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. It is quite different though. It takes place during the Chechnya War. Even though it got mixed reviews on RT, I really enjoyed this movie.
It's heartfelt and funny. The patients in the mental hospital aren't shown condescendingly and the patients, doctors, and soldiers are shown with humanity. The film is in Russian with English subtitles.
I recommend House of Fools to indie and foreign film fans.
