Review of House of Flying Daggers (2004) by Ryan V — 19 Feb 2012
One of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen. Zhang Yimou is oft-praised for his ability to use color as a narrative device, and this wuxia epic is the best example. The fight scenes are staggering in how they reinforce the drama of this film's tragic romance.
This is especially so in the midst of a brutal snowfall that serves as the feature's climactic finale.
