Review of House of Dracula (1945) by Pearl K — 01 Nov 2006
Well, I survived the wedding and it turned out perfectly. So I freaked out for no reason. Oh well.
Then we went to the beach and discovered that AMC was doing a monster movie marathon. I know, we were at the beach, and we did get in some quality walking on the sand holding hands time. But the power of AMC was too great.
We watched the House of Dracula which was totally awesome. Besides the eerie black and white, it features not only Dracula but the Wolfman and Frankenstein as well. Oh yeah. If only there'd been a mummy...
We only watched part of Child's Play but I remembered how much I didn't like it. Yeah, dolls coming alive is scary, but come on. How could his tiny arms wrap around someone's throat? But the mom in this is the mom from 7th Heaven. So points added.
I love, love, love Hellraiser. For some reason, I think Pinhead is hot. I don't know why. Anway, some of the effects have aged, but the Cenobites are still terrifying.
We also caught a bit of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer on some non-AMC station and that movie is 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon heaven. There's Jack Black, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Mekhi Pheifer, FPJ, Jeffery Combs and Brandy. So take that info and use it wisely.
