Review of House of Dark Shadows (1970) by Art S — 07 Mar 2012

Back in the 1970s, after school, Channel 9 (WMUR) used to play the Dark Shadows soap opera. Apparently these were reruns but I didn't know that. It also took me some time to realize that one of the characters was a vampire (OK, we didn't it watch it that regularly -- it was still a soap opera).

Here is a horror movie made by Dan Curtis to capitalize on the success of the soap -- and despite its 70s low-budget trappings, it worked for me. Can vampirism be cured by medical science? Find out! Enough cheap thrills with the shaky-cam and a brief running time get this across.
