This doesn't do justic to the series at all - if it didn't the series to be compared to, it would be better. There was just SO much story that had to be left out, which really took away from it.
How did they ever think they could fit all of Barnabas' story into a 90 minute movie? Well, I still love it. Barnabas is good evil (mostly because I know from the show that he isn't all bad?), and Nancy Barrett made a very good Hammer-ish vampire.
And there was some of general atmosphere that makes Dark Shadows so amazing.
