Review of House of 9 (2005) by Laurence C — 15 Jun 2007
Inevitably similar to its other despair-isolation-reality T.V-themed horror counterparts, House of 9 somehow features neatly better (and stylish) directing, thankfully not-so-over-the-top performances and a truly astonishing ending.
But on the other side, if you've already seen its countless derivatives before, there's not much to be found here, and the requisite escape attempts desperately fall flat instead of being nail-biting.
All told, House of 9 is a good deal of clever 'stupid' fun that thankfully runs just under 90 minutes. Definitely worth a rental.
