My feelings on this flick are pretty mixed, and I'm not sure how I feel about it after watching it, even a week later after watching it. The positives of this film (in my opinion) was the character of Captain Spaulding.

I found his character interesting, and I also found his humor and dialogue both humorous and silly, especially near the end. And now, for the negatives. Most of the film is based upon characters given no development, such as the girls father and the policemen.

I felt that the excessive gore was used to distract us from the atrocious plot (not in the good way) and the "killer family" just felt like posers trying to be the Sawyer family from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Even though they were supposed to be scary and have some black comedy implemented, I just found it was silly, and laughable. I also thought the Dr Satan story was interesting at the start of the flick, during the "Murder Ride", however when we finally saw him, I felt downhearted and miserable at how poorly the design joices were, as well as the bloke with the axe.

This scene was, I guess, meant to be scary but just boring and unimaginative. Like the rest of this film (excluding Spaulding, of course). I would recommend this film only to fans of Rob Zombie, and others who wish to enjoy this supposed "cult classic".
