Review of House of 1000 Corpses (2003) by Grey R — 27 Oct 2010
Obviously a love-child of the shock-horror Rob Zombie himself. While the movie obviously draws from a lot of influences, there is something ridiculously awesome about the way Zombie infuses the movie with old, grainy footage of this and that.
It works really well in creating an atmosphere of uneasy lunacy. The antagonists and their abode are like something out of a pulp nightmare--particularly the oft-mentioned Dr. Satan. Good stuff. And this strikes me as a movie that'll get better the more I familiarize myself with 70s horror.
