Review of House II: The Second Story (1987) by Luke H — 11 Sep 2009
More of a fantasy-adventure film than a horror film, House II is never creeapy like the original which blended horror with comedy in a truly entertaining and ingenious fashion. Nonetheless, I love House II--it was dear to my as child and remains so today.
It's cheesy fun that blurs the boundaries between horror, science fiction, adventure, and comedy films in way that is riveting in a way only an 80s films can be. If you aren't a fan of 80s cinema, then you will most likely hate it, but if you are then you might be plesantly surprised.
House II is a silly, bizarre piece of cinema that turns the hounted house genre on its ears with a flare that evokes 80s comedy films.
