Review of House at the End of the Street (2012) by Daniel I — 30 Dec 2013
Jennifer Lawrence deserves a lot better than some cheap, generic exercise in jump-scares. In fact, she deserves better movies altogether. For every good film she has ("Winter's Bone", "Silver Linings Playbook"), there's always a fucking dumpster (this and that big YA hit from last year).
I really don't see how this movie even got made. The director is a hack of the worst order, the acting (Jennifer's included) is awful, the plot is tasteless and boring, and there's no real ending.
I've seen shitty Sci-Fi Channel movies that came out way before this (i.e. "Python") that had better production values and credibility. I don't care if this was shot before she made the big time - it's a terrible movie.
It also doubles as evidence regarding why I think Lawrence is an overrated actress.
