- 'House at the End of the Street' is a 2012 psychological thriller directed by Mark Tonderai, starring Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games Saga, X-Men: First Class), Max Thieriot (Disconnect, My Soul to Take)and Elisabeth Shue (Back to the Future 2, Hollow Man). The whole film has a déjà-vu feeling as the storyline follows the predictable pattern and brings the expected jump-scares. I did like some of the plot twists, but in the end I do feel left unsatisfied. 'House at the End of the Street' could have been so much more. If you watch it, make sure to know thy neighbor...
Newly divorced medical doctor Sarah Cassidy (Shue) and her teenage-daughter Elissa (Lawrence) move to a large house in a small town. They were able to get it at a good price, because the building is right next to a house where a family was butchered 5 years ago. The young Carrie Ann Jacobson murdered her parents, fled into the woods and was never seen again. Currently the massacre house is habited by Carrie Ann's brother Ryan (Thieriot), who wasn't there at the time of the horrible events.
One night, after walking home from a party, Elissa accepts a ride home from Ryan. Although he is a loner, who is disliked by everyone in town, she likes the guy and is very interested in the massacre house. As the two of them grow closer in the following days, Sarah is not happy with them spending so much time together. She feels that something wrong with Ryan...
