Review of Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015) by Douglas L — 12 Oct 2015

As an overall decent movie, I can't help but feel that Hotel Transylvania 2 has had almost minimal effort in terms of character interactions and delivering the ethical point to younger audiences. Although the idea of accepting yourself for who you is an over-saturated moral in the movie industry, HT2 had potential to also be an emotionally-driven element to help hit the point of the idea home. Instead, the producers focused all of their ideas of entertainment into slapstick gags (that do provide with some good belly laughs) and rushed pacing once hitting the halfway mark of the film.

Even for a film that does blatantly leans towards kids, (spoiler alert) it's hard to take it seriously with the fact that Johnny's immaturity is still used as a comic relief such as his his uncontrollable giggles when Mavis announces her pregnancy to her father; which is in no way tolerable for the once star character for the first movie to a [not so] supportive character for Mavis and Drac when they are both conflicted with one another's decisions which could've helped build up the emotions going on within the characters and even the audience.

Overall, it's a movie that you will enjoy, but only once depending on your taste in entertainment.
