Review of Hotel Rwanda (2004) by Brett B — 20 Mar 2010
The most terrifying film I've seen, because unlike horror movies, this movie portrayed an even that actually happened. The movie seems very graphic until you consider that in the actual conflict over one million people were killed and a whole ethnic group almost wiped out.
The acting is brilliant, the soundtrack perfect and the director gets the audience to feel what the Tutsi's would have felt. The way Terry George approached the conflict helps grip the audience. He doesn't take the view of the common Rwandan (which those in the western world don't care about), he view the conflict in the eyes of the wealthy Rwandans, those who live a life comparable to those in the western world, those with something to really lose.
