Review of Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015) by Zachary Y — 24 Feb 2015

Two stars is generous for this self-parodying sequel that simply lazily recycles old quotes and jokes. It completely bastardizes the first film, plot is a rush job of semi-formulated jokes and just sets it self up as a filler movie, begging to be given enough revenue to try again for a third time.

Though due to the catastrophic failure of a sequel, if it does, it absolutely CAN NOT happen without Cusack, whose absence is devastating to the likability of the movie. Setting the film in a future so similar to our present that its only good for the one-off joke of how slow technological progress actually happens, and staying there the entire movie absolutely ruins the possibilities of comedically tinkering with the past.
