Normally when I watch a sequel to a comedy I really enjoyed, I go in with an open mind, kowing that it has no chance of surpassing the original. "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" not only did not surpass it's predecessor, but it get's shit on entirely by it.

Having a story that just exists to send the characters through time once again, there really is nothing interesting going on during the duration of this film. I felt empty handed by the conclusion and that was a huge disappointment, because there is so much that can be done with a time travel story.

Getting jumbled in a complex plot, I really did not care about anything the characters had to go through. The voice of reason in the first film was John Cusack's character, and without his return, everyone felt like an innane person.

Relying on profanity and dick jokes to chug the movie along, it felt like it just would not end. "Hot Tub Time Machine 2" is lazily written, from it's 4th wall sequel jokes to it's on the nose dialogue, and the direction is all over the place.

This film exists from the success of the first and they clearly could care less if it was good. I chuckled once or twice, but every single joke felt recycled from other films of the like. This film is terrible all around.

Even if you are a fan of the first, I do not even recommend one viewing out of curiosty, because it is just unnecessary.
