Review of Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015) by Josh M — 26 Jul 2015
It's just not a good movie - don't expect much and you might be entertained - provided you can stomach the crude humor, unlikeable characters and over-the-top "ewww" situations.
There are a few brights spots such as Adam Scott's committed attempt at portraying a hilariously p-whipped man. Another great scene is when our three main characters first arrive in the future and sling rapid-fire insults one right after the other. If they would've stuck to good characters and well-written humor like this, the movie would be much better for it.
I'm a fan of time-travel movies, but even the way time travel is handled is terrible. The writers don't really know how to explain it themselves, so I didn't even bother making sense of it. It's just a humorous plot element. Even the attempt at a "funny" surprise killing turns sour when any logic is applied to time travel scenarios.
I'd say DON'T watch it with a friend, or the cringe-inducing moments will be unbearable.
