Review of Hot Rod (2007) by Garick G — 09 Apr 2011
I feel like I'm getting my comedy education here, so forgive me if this is very amateur. I haven't seen that many comedies. I felt like this one had a lot of potential, but fell a little short.
It was a bit repetitive and also quite childish. But that is also, oddly, part of whatever charm it has. I appreciated the idea that this is about a terrible stuntman, but done with wonderful stunt work.
The irony there is interesting, and I hope it's intentional. I chuckled here and there, and some parts were really quite funny. But it's not something I feel like I want to sit down and watch all the time.
It's not a bad way to kill a lazy afternoon or evening, especially if you need something to cheer you up. But it wasn't comedy gold, either. At least in my unschooled opinion.
