Review of Hot Rod (2007) by Lou Z — 01 Jul 2010
In a world where silly, strange, and stupid movies are made, Hot Rod is among one of them. But in mysterious ways (yes, mysterious), it works.
Of course, Hot Rod isn't a comedy for everybody. After all, it is a bunch of cussing, constant dumb jokes that never make sense, and predictable events happening through out the film (except for the ending). Aside from all that's bad, the objects that make the film enjoyable are the cast. Them fitting just right for the roles of their weird and erotic characters is fin by me. It's probably me, but their type humor does fit the mood of the film and for that matter, they do make the Hot Rod watchable at times (along with some laugh-out-loud moments and the combination of modern day technology, 70's music, and Indian mythology style). But hey, I enjoyed it. I'm just being honest here.
For first time watching, I thought it was the most outrageous (funny) thing I've seen. After watching it more than twice, it does get over shoulder. But (for some people) it is worth the one time.
