Review of Hot Rod (2007) by Skyview B — 24 Jan 2014
The film Hot Rod was extremely funny. I really enjoyed watching it because I watched it with my friends and we laughed at almost everything! I love movies with humor and all the characters fit the movie really well!
Rod Kimble is a slacker that lives in a small town with his mom,his younger brother, and his step dad who craves his respect. He misses his real dad that he believes was Evel Knievels back up. Rod believes that he is a stunt man and plans to set a school bus jumping record on his moped. Him and his crew have to raise money to build the ramp and rent buses. He likes his neighbor Denise and she helps him pursue his goal.
The overall theme to me was to live life and pursue your dreams. I think the message the director wanted to come across was to follow you heart and have fun.
I enjoyed the music they chose for all the scenes because they were mainly oldies. They went along and flowed and fit the storyline. The camera shot when Rod was jumping over the buses was really cool and I wonder how they did it! Even with editing I don't know how so I think it'd be interesting to know how.
I would only recommend this movie to someone with a funny sense of humor and if they like Evel Knievel.
