Review of Hot Pursuit (2015) by Cecilia G — 15 May 2015
A lot of people deserve better. A youngish policewoman who accidentally tasered the mayor's son is given a chance to redeem herself protecting the wife of a federal witness. At the house, she is caught in the crossfire between a Mexican gang and dirty cops out to prevent the witness and his wife from testifying against the Mexican crime boss.
The cop (Reese Witherspoon) and the wife (Sofia Vergara) escape and end up on the lam in a wacky female buddy comedy that crosses "Thelma and Louise" with "Midnight Run." Reese Witherspoon is talented and Sofia Vergara a gifted comedic force, but why are they in this dreck? The script is pretty bad so how did this movie ever get greenlit? Which came first the script or the actors?
