Review:

What an awful movie! The jokes are not that funny, along with the terrible storyline which got more silly as the movie went along. Reese Witherspoon plays officer Cooper, who rode in her daddies police car as a little girl and loved everything to do with the law and the police department when she got older. After working in an office in her local police station for some time, she gets a promotion to protect a Federal witness, Daniella Riva (Sofia Vergara), whose going to testify against a powerful druglord, which will get him sent down for life. Her husband was a part of the druglords organisation and he's also due to testify so he won't go to jail for his previous crimes. As a woman is only allowed to protect a woman in protective custody, Officer Cooper seems to be the best candidate for the job but after a previous incident, which involved a tazzer gun and an innocent bystander catching alight, she has become a bit of a joke in the police department. Anyway, Cooper goes to the witnesses house with her partner, Detective Jackson (Richard T. Jones), who ends up in a shootout between 2 masked individuals and 2 of the druglords henchmen. Officer Cooper manages to escape the shootout along with Daniella and they end up running for there life's after being implicated of killing her partner. Now running away from the police and the druglords henchmen, they end up on a road trip whilst trying to get to safety. Officer Cooper, who does everything completely by the book, soon finds out that there are crooked cops who also want to them dead, so whilst building a relationship with Daniella, they tackle the many obstacles that are put in there way, while they are trying to prove there innocence. The silly music throughout the movie didn't help this weak comedy which I personally thought was badly written. The director tried to add different twists to the storyline to try and make it interesting but it still didn't help matters. I never get tired of watching Sofia Vergara, from a beauty point of view but I found the characters shallow uninteresting. The only thing that this movie had going for it, was the fact that the two main characters are complete opposites and you get to see there relationship blossom, under extreme circumstances but apart from that, it really wasn't that great. Disappointing!

Round-Up:

Although this movie made money at the box office, it really didn't go down well with the critics and I can totally understand why. It was directed by Anne Fletcher, 49, who also brought you Step Up, 27 Dresses, the Proposal and the Guilt Trip. All of those movies were quite disappointing, especially the Guilt Trip, so I wasn't that surprised with the outcome of this movie. .

Budget: $35million.

Worldwide Gross: $51.5million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their action/crime/comedies starring Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara, Matthew Del Negro, Robert Kazinsky, Richard T. Jones and John Carroll Lynch. 2/10.
