Hot Fuzz is a sequel, in a lot of ways, to Shaun of the Dead, but then again it isn't. It stands completely on its own as another great piece of filmmaking from Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (plus the many, many talented people behind-the-scenes).

They knock it out of the park once again with a mystery thriller and a bit of horror tossed in. It's The Wicker Man meets Murder on the Orient Express meets Domino. It's a great movie, and really stands up several years later.

I keep finding new things in it every time I see it, like all of Edgar Wright's work, and that's an amazing thing for a movie these days. I considered it the best film of 2007, even though there were many great films that came out that year.

But perhaps I'm just a bit on the biased side. Shaun of the Dead is my favorite film of all time and this is like a great sister film to it. I'm looking forward to the third chapter in this trilogy of films: The World's End.
