Review of Hostiles (2017) by Compi24 — 06 Feb 2018
Christian Bale and Scott Cooper reteam for "Hostiles," a post-modern western that pulls no punches. It's brutal, morally provocative, and meditative, but sometimes it's all of these things to a fault, particularly in the second act, which has a knack for depressing, and desensitizing the audience with an unfortunate lack of action.
When the movie does have things to show and say, however - man - does this movie entertain. And the lead performance from Christian Bale is nothing short of captivating from point A to point Z. I just wish points B through Y were a little bit more weighty and eventful.
