Review of Hostiles (2017) by Ginak — 10 Jan 2018

Hostiles is definitely one of the best films I have seen this year. Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike were both wonderful, and they had a excellent supporting cast. I am not quite sure how you would market this very fine film since it is basically a traditional Western without any special plot twists.

I guess what I mean is that it is not very original. It simply has a solid cast and direction – and a certain very sad and “lyrical” quality. No big shoot-outs, no clichés, but a great atmosphere that kept me and the rest of the audience spellbound, quiet, and motionless for over two hours.
