Review of Hostiles (2017) by Axet — 22 Dec 2017
Elegantly made seemingly authentic western with a strong performance by Christian Bale is a simple classic kind of tale. The only real problem is it's nothing new with the expected genre tropes delivering predictably in grand settings, so if it wasn't coming after over a 100 years of westerns and personally a lifetime of seeing them it would rate higher here (which brings up the question, do you account for that as a critic or just go with how it affects you?.
