Review of Hostiles (2017) by Belle B — 22 Jan 2018
A nice looking movie that lacks a satisfying narrative thread. All the white protagonists are unbelievably evolved (Civil Rights activist level evolved) despite living in the 1890's. Nonwhite characters don't talk at all! Rosamund Pike is chewing up the scenery, and Christian Bale reverts to Dark Knight-whisper acting about 10 minutes in.
It's too bad, he's good in the first scene. I had high hopes...
