Review of Hostiles (2017) by Richard P — 03 Feb 2018
Hostiles visually excites with amazing views, but fails to capture and hold an audience with meaningful action sequences. Movie progresses from one tragic scene to another, attempting to create a connection to characters who try to be complex, but end up being infuriatingly one dimensional.
Bale is a great enough actor to pull off the role of being a deep and conflicted army captain, but the ridiculousness of the conflict scenes leads you to wonder how any of these characters survived to see middle age.
