Review of Hostel: Part III (2011) by Max E — 19 Feb 2012

I would count myself among the fans of the first two in this series, and I was disappointed. Not surprised, just a little let down by how little gore and pain is involved in this one. It comes across as a mere homage, taking forever to build up to meagre rewards.

The first two deaths were over far too quickly, and all the deaths showed a lack of imagination and cruelty that was certainly present in the first film. Those downfalls coupled with bland colourings and a visual style similar to the awful Resident Evil, this only regained our interest with a few visual gags and twists.

In other words, it lived up to the fun of the first two, but not the gore. If you're going to milk this franchise, please let the next one be utterly ruthless.
